I Want To Play With ‘0’ Deadzone
What is ‘deadzone’? It’s a tiny circular area around the center of your joystick where movement is ignored. All joysticks need a little “wiggle room” to account for natural shake and wear. If the deadzone is set too low, your character or camera might move on its own.
Here is the sad reality, you dont actually want to play with ‘0’ deadzone. We have worked on thousands of controllers, ‘0’ deadzone is not a realistic goal. Whoever tells you ‘0’ deadzone is possible has mislead you! I’m sure you have a friend or two who mention GameSir or 8BitDuo controllers that have ‘0’ deadzone. These are excellent third party controllers and we do recommended them, but they hold a secret. They use built in software to give the controller a ‘0’ deadzone and ‘perfect’ circularity. The values you see on gamepad tester and are not the raw joystick data. They are fabricated results from the built in software. With these controllers, it is possible to set your in-game deadzone to ‘0’, but your deadzone is not actually ‘0’, its the software that’s tricking you!
When you plug a PS5 or Xbox controller into a gamepad tester, you will see the raw values of the joysticks. Which is why games have deadzone settings. Call of Duty recommends setting this value to 15! Which is definitely far from ‘0’.
Dont be afraid to increase your deadzone, we promise it wont affect your K/D. Keep in mind, if you need to set your deadzone super high, you probably have stick drift.
